Principal Letter to Parents - DL Materials/Device pick up schedule.

July 31, 2020

Dear Roosevelt Families,

I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and in good health. Please know how much our Roosevelt Staff misses you and looks forward to another successful school year supporting your children as best as we can.

We recognize that we live in a world of uncertainty right now and we are unsure how long we will be dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it is our desire to provide you with the information you will need to help your children succeed and continue to excel as Rough Riders.  As you are aware, due to our status in Kings County of being on the “watch list,” we are unable to open schools in a traditional manner. We will begin our school year on Thursday, August 13th through Distance Learning. However, we are confident that our Roosevelt Rough Rider students will continue to make academic gains this year. The setting may look and feel different, but our teachers’ desire is to see their students learn and grow, remains unchanged. We believe every child can have success this year through participation in our High-Quality Distance Learning Model. Our district staff have been working tirelessly in preparation of our students’ virtual arrival.

I am hopeful that this information can provide answers to questions you may have. Our goal is for all our students to participate and engage in daily online learning with their teachers. We understand that you will be our number one partner in ensuring that we can reach every child and provide them what they need (see daily schedule below). So, it is important for students to understand they will need to adhere to the schedule because teachers will be taking roll daily and participation is expected from all students Monday-Friday. Assignments must be completed, and work will be graded. In advance, we would like to thank you and state how appreciated you are! We know that parents/guardians may not be adequately prepared for this model of learning and we are eager and willing to help throughout. Our job is to continue supporting you and your student in whatever may come our way this school year.

In an effort to adhere to social distancing and to keep our children safe, please adhere to the designated time for your student.  Please plan on waiting in your cars as totes will be distributed in order of arrival.  Additionally, students must be present at the time of pick up; materials will not be checked out to family members without the student

*         Kinder 8:00-1:37

*         1ro-3ro Grado 8:00-1:57

*         4to- 6to Grado 8:00- 2:17

o    iPad y cargador (Grados TK-1)

o    Laptop y cargador Acer (2-6 grado)

Principal's Message

Roosevelt Family,

Parents and family members, as we embark onto a new school year, I would like you all to know that the worries and concerns you are experiencing, we too are feeling as we prepare to open for the new school year. With these unprecedented times, we must all do our part to stay safe and model best practices for our children. As things continue to change from day to day, I want to assure all our families that our team here at Roosevelt and HESD will do our best to deliver high quality distance learning to your children. As educators, our primary goal is to provide the best learning opportunities for all our students here at Roosevelt. It will take a team effort from all of us to be productive. I know our community and I strongly believe in our grit and fortitude. It will be tough at times and there will be challenges for all of us, but we must all come together, like I know we can, to get through it. I ask of you all to come together for the betterment of our young Rough Riders to show them that there is no quit in us and even during a pandemic, we will persevere.

Mr. Flores

Familia Roosevelt,

Sr. Flores
